A Tale of Two High Schools

Here is a tale of two high schools

The new syllabus document must be read and understood by teachers before submitting their school’s work program. This was done by a school for their senior physics work program. The material was submitted and passed as being a workable document.

There was a neighbouring high school 3 km away and due to a sudden retirement it had no work program ready for its senior physics course. The first high school generously offered their work program that was then submitted by the second high school and duly failed. The second high school, using an approved document, has been told that it does not meet the requirements of the syllabus. The second high school is now into its 3rd rewrite of what is supposed to be a simple to produce document of only a few pages. Ridiculous!!!!

As a PS, the sudden retirement was due to the new syllabus and the accompanying assessment regime associated with it. A good competent teacher of 30 years physics teaching lost to the system because of the excessive requirements associated with the new syllabus.
